Hatch Elementary is proud to partner with the Amity Institute to bring international student teachers into our classrooms each year.
These educators enrich our school community by sharing their language, culture, and passion for teaching.
An Amity is an international college student or recent graduate studying education who comes to the United States to gain classroom experience. They work alongside teachers, support students, and bring a global perspective into daily learning.
This program creates a meaningful cultural exchange-students gain global awareness, and Amities gain valuable teaching experience while becoming part of our community.
We are currently looking for families interested in hosting an Amity. Hosting is a rewarding way to support our school and build a meaningful cultural connection.
My name is Laura, and I’m from Valladolid, Spain. I studied Early Childhood Education and am currently pursuing a Master’s in Educational Psychology. I’ve worked with children as a tutor, caregiver, and teacher, which has strengthened my passion for supporting their learning through empathy, patience, and respect for each child’s pace. I’m an active and positive person who enjoys meeting new people, exploring cultures, and spending time outdoors, especially at the beach. I also value time with family and friends and have a deep love for animals. I’m excited to continue growing and contributing to a caring educational community.
My name is Maria Fernanda, I am 20 years old, and I am from Colombia. I am currently studying to become an English language teacher and am passionate about helping others feel confident and comfortable, especially when learning something new. I am enthusiastic and creative, and in my free time I enjoy dancing, going to the gym, and listening to K-pop—especially groups like BTS and ATEEZ. I also love attending concerts and experiencing live music. Some fun facts about me are that I learned to play the saxophone in high school, I grew up in a traditional Catholic family, and I’m not a big fan of vegetables. I’m very excited to be part of this experience, join this school community, and share a bit of my culture with all of you.
Hi! I’m Matthew, I’m 21, and I live in Valladolid, Spain. I’m currently finishing my degree in Primary/Elementary Education because I enjoy working with children and being part of their learning process. I also play and coach indoor soccer and have been coaching for nearly five years, which has helped me build strong teamwork and leadership skills. I would describe myself as friendly, responsible, and enthusiastic, and in my free time I enjoy learning languages and watching movies.
My name is Adriana Barreira, and I’m excited to introduce myself. I’m from Barcelona, Spain, where I live with my family. I’m a family-oriented, cheerful, and active person who enjoys new experiences. I’m passionate about working with children and feel a strong connection with them—their enthusiasm and kindness inspire me every day. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to come to the United States. I look forward to growing both professionally and personally, learning a new educational approach, and creating meaningful experiences.
